As cyber attacks on organizations continue to grace headlines on a seemingly weekly basis, one industry expert believes a major problem lies in corporate boards lacking a high level of understanding of cybersecurity risks.
In a recent interview with ComputerWorld, Gartner analyst Avivah Litan discussed how corporate leaders aren’t doing enough to combat cyber threats, leaving CIOs and CISOs to lead the way.
“Unless senior executives, corporate boards and other senior stakeholders get their act together, the threat actors will continue to win,” Litan told ComputerWorld’s Matt Hamblen.
This could be primarily attributed to the board’s continued lack of comprehending the cyber risks surrounding the company’s critical assets.
As we head into 2017, it will be interesting to see how information security professionals continue to work on their communication with upstream management to bridge this gap.
